Charity Dragon Boat Festivals was first set up in 2004 as an independently organised 'Open' event for the benefit of local, regional and national charities. The first event was in Chester, where nine teams supporting seven different charities entered and over the years, more events were added. To date (June 2023), 148 charities have been supported from the more than HALF a MILLION pounds (£533,179) raised .
